Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringing

On Friday, December 17, we sang, danced, and rang bells outside of Wal-Mart to raise money for the Salvation Army. Lots of friendly, generous shoppers donated and helped us feel the holiday spirit...

Snack Bags for the Ronald McDonald House

For the holiday season, we put together 100 snack bags for residents of the Rochester Ronald McDonald House. When families leave to spend the day visiting their children in the hospital, they can grab these bags and know someone is thinking of them throughout the day. Each bag contains a message of support, a bag of chips, granola bar, package of fruit snacks, and either a juice box or a bottle of water. Thanks to a generous donation from Wegmans, we didn't need to use any of our own funds.

Clothing Closet Update

Athena Cares has decided to discontinue our Clothing Closet, due to lack of use. We have so many beautiful items our supporters have donated over the years, so it's time to get them out into the community where they will be more helpful. We donated our shoes to support micro-enterprise vendors in developing nations. The spring and summer clothing was transported to the Women and Children's Center, sponsored by the Open Door Mission.

We will continue to keep winter coats and other select items on hand to serve our school community.
